You may remember spring cleaning the-way I do. Every thing was dusted, scoured, scrubbed, cleaned and aired. Today spring cleaning isnt often done as carefully as it was when I was a kid. I recall letting outdoors in, looking out any cobwebs that formed through the cold weather, opening all the windows and washing blinds and windows. I also remember washing anything whether it was nailed down o-r not. Spring cleaning was a significant enterprise, frequently requiring many days to accomplish. I actually do my spring cleaning still. I search out cobwebs, make fresh air, and wash curtains, win-dows and the like. One thing I dont do today is set slipcovers on all of the furniture. I dont know very many people who try this any longer. In a, I miss it. I remember getting fitted slipcovers in brilliant and light colors on most of the furniture for the warm weather months. It com-pletely changed the appearance and feel of the areas. It was a good change. Once the washing was done and the summer slipcovers were on the furniture the whole house felt fresh and clean and new. Another part of spring cleaning was cleaning out things we no-longer needed. We collected the toys we had outgrown, clothes that no longer fit us, and anything else we no longer wanted o-r needed, when we were kids. I have been contemplating those times for the last few months. I recently washed my garage in expectation of spring cleaning. I was amazed by the quantity of stuff I'd collected. I used to be also a little nostalgic and astonished about the things my children had kept in the home. All this thought about spring cleaning, nevertheless, also makes me think about how important it is for all folks to interact in just a little spring cleaning of the heart and head and soul. I dont know if my mother consciously thought about other sorts of cleaning when she attacked the collected dust of cold temperatures, but I discover that my cleaning and cleaning is a great time for you to think. I've been using spring cleaning like a time for reflection for numerous years now. I use the period for reflection to test to accomplish just a little spring cleaning of soul, heart and brain. The reason is that this. We gather, and ideas, feelings and often foster that clutter our souls and minds, making them shabby. I love using that house cleaning time to think about and cope with things that I need to free myself of in order to be happier. We frequently dont realize that deep in our minds and hearts we still carry, and also nurture, old anger or bitterness. We usually dont realize that we're carrying guilt and frustration and several types of hurt. I think spring cleaning may be the perfect opportunity to think about and free ourselves of the types of feelings and thoughts. To get different interpretations, consider checking out: carpetfirst. I'd challenge you to accomplish a spring cleaning of your mind, heart and soul and like a fresh breeze invigorating your joy, as you do your spring cleaning in 2013. When you are rubbing, consider shame, frustration and old resentments. And concentrate your mind on working with them and removing the debris they've developed. While you search for cobwebs, search out your worries and your concerns. From the time you finish your housekeeping, you can also develop an unfettered and clean mind and soul that is ready to embrace the offer of a better and lighter year.CarpetFirst 78 York Street London W1H 1DP 020 8099 8444
