So, to enhance the combination, I thought that, because I am an Abstract Artist, I'd give my answer. First lets see what the state version must say. The next meaning of 'subjective' in the Concise Oxford Dictionary says 'Idealistic, perhaps not practical; abstruse; (Art etc.) free from representational features' And it's this last.. A lot of people must be asking this question all the time.. Because I keep seeing articles about them and maybe not finding satifactory solutions. So, to enhance the mix, I thought that, because I am an Abstract Artist, I'd give my answer. First lets see what the official version has to say. The next description of 'abstract' in the Concise Oxford Dictionary states 'Idealistic, not practical; abstruse; (Art etc.) free from representational attributes' And it's this last information I want to examine. That which is free of representational qualities can be a picture (or other type of art discipline) that does not reflect any recognisable image such as a figure, building, or sky. There's no purposeful mention of such a thing physically particular. Jackson Pollock, as an example, was one of the first abstract artists and produced the best of examples.. take a look at this: www.nga.gov/feature/pollock/painting.html It'll soon become clear that he randomly dripped paint onto a board laying flat on the floor If you study this picture closely. And if you read up a bit about him you will find that he also stopped paint-filled cans above a board, punched holes in the underside of the can, and allowed the cans to move, or be nudged, the color slowly leaking to give an entirely no-representative image. The main thing to keep in mind here is that he had no intention of producing any sort likeness to any such thing actual whatsoever. Which means this type of art is actually an abstract work. The issue comes when a piece of art is stated in a really loose and, even, child like way. Some might regard it as subjective. Here's an illustration of what in my opinion isn't subjective art: go to www.guzzardi.it/arte/ then on the left side click on 'Artisti Ceris' then click 'D' go to the last name from-the bottom 'Jean Dubuffet' and click 'Art Brut' there you will discover three photographs of his work.. each one describes roughly painted figures and faces, and even though the left-hand image appears like imageless lines I do think there are faces to-be seen there (Do not misunderstand me - Jean Dubuffet developed many abstract works.. In reality that is what h-e was most well-known for.. it's that these examples aren't). Some may call these Dubuffet paintings semi-abstract - but I really do not. For me personally there's no such thing - either the image doesn't represent any such thing.. or it will - regardless of how simple. Still another challenge might be the later works of Mark Rothko. If you wish to be taught new info on Do you know which color to be used in your painting? Rivers Ide Appeal Careers Site, we know of many libraries people might think about pursuing. Seem here: http://www.nga.gov/feature/rothko/late7.shtm Some might argue that a simple rectangular form may be seen as a representational picture. But you need to learn about his life and philosophy to understand he was not painting rectangles but what has become known as colour areas. The level of his enormous works and the undeniable fact that he quit even titling his pieces must dispell any chance of his work being anything besides the purer form of abstract art. I would prefer to conclude with one-of my own enigmatic examples: www.ablot.com/passion3.htm in-which I have kind to 'depict' the notion of serious or spiritual action. Such an explanation is, obviously, dangerous in that I have used words like 'portray', 'religious' and 'activity' - all of these have links.. Although not necessarily physical people! It's my opinion that there's a relationship available with my character.. and it's the form of abstraction. If you are interested in law, you will seemingly choose to learn about like us on facebook. You will find out more about that in my weblog o-n my internet site. The only other thing to say here is that the abstract artist is seeking to wear canvas such non-figurative 'imagery' as emotion, thought, the higher self, anarchy, and total randomness.. to name but a number of. And I intend to analyze these 'non-figures' in-a bit more detail in my own articles beginning with 'How to create a subjective picture - Part 2' You will be very welcome to come along and read it!.
